Battling lupus, the same disease that took the life of her son, James “J. Dilla” Yancey, Parra and J. Dilla’s former record label have put together a fund-raising t-shirt for J. Dilla’s mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey. The t-shirt is done in trademark Parra styles and presents itself as a great cause for a disease which has had such a great effect on numerous families worldwide. The tee is available now at Standard as well as a select number of retailers. More information can be seen here.
The most exceptional thing about these headphones is the construction. Made of birch, they are molded just like a skateboard. The wood is thin, the transfer of sound, presumably, is thick. What’s for sure is that the end product is light on the cranium.
The second most exceptional point is that the headphones feature the trademark style of Dutch artist Parra. His ties to music are well known, so here the collaborative effort has merit beyond hype… dare we say The Perfect Unison? Purchase of the headphone will begin in earnest at Parra’s newest solo outing (to the Boo Hoo), being held at Paris’ Lazy Dog. (Via Guillotine).
Original artwork from Dutch artist Parra is featured in the second installment of the Curated by Arkitip series. Known for combining bright colors and his mastery of illustrated fonts with a twist of wit, Parra’s work can be seen in both the commercial and fine art worlds. This great follow up from the project with Krink features more great Incase items with the laptop sleeve and iPhone slide case, and is a must have!
Nice to get a more inside look of Parra and his work, Pretty Nice!
